About me
I am 32 years old biology teacher living in Eastern Finland, North Carelia, Finland. My family includes husband Janne and daughter Iina, born in march 2008 – and dogs of course, four lakelands and a cairn at the moment.
Dogs, and all kinds of animals, have always been an essential part of my life. My dad has been breeding dogs since I was a child and in a very early age it was clear to me that I would be breeding dogs too.
Most of my childhood we were living in countryside and we had a lot of animals; dogs, sheeps, goats, chickens, turkeys, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice etc. When I was a bit younger I was breeding and showing Netherland Dwarfs for several years, but when I started my studies in university, that part of my life came to an end.
When I was a child we had belgian shepherd dogs (tervueren), although the first dog we had was a white german shepherd. Nowadays he would have been called white swiss shepherd. My first really own dog was bearded collie ”Tipo”, FIN Ch Axtam Brown Taroc. He was almost two years when I got him in 1989, because his family couldn't keep him anymore for some reason. Extremely lively young beardie was I a real challenge for a young girl, but he taugth me a lot about owning a dog. I trained some obedience with him and also showed him with a variable results. Eventually, with a lot of effort I made him champion in the age of seven years.
I had always admired terriers when I saw them in shows. They seemed so full of life and temperament, and some were so beautifully trimmed and presented. I had my first terrier, westie, in 1998. Unfortunately, she didn't become a show or breeding dog I had wished for because she had Legg-Calve-Perthes disease. My second westie was FI & RU Ch Gleizz Aurelia. She had one litter in 2001. I had my kennel name, Inch, for westies in 2003. Inch is scottish and means a small island. Nowadays I don't have any westies, although I still trim and try to follow the westie world.
I have always liked both ”highlanders” westies and cairns, as well as long legged terrier breeds. In 2001, after two years of waiting I got my first lakeland ”Siiri”, C.I.B, NORD, FI, SE, NO, RU, EE Ch, EEW-04 Big Lady's Micro-Inkpot from Pirjo Hjelm, kennel Big Lady's. Thanks to Siiri and Pirjo, I'm now stuck with these lovely, challenging rascals!
